About:

My first career choice was law but as an introvert, I had to work on my communication skills. I took speech, announcing and broadcasting courses in college to help improve my skills and enjoyed the courses so much that I decided to change my major to Broadcast Journalism. This led to a 10-year career in broadcasting and television news reporting. Later in life, I volunteered in public schools and saw the impact that teachers and counselors made in the lives of their students. I wanted to work in a more positive environment, where I could help others and decided to seek a career in education.

"What I enjoy most about advising is being able to see students’ enthusiasm for a program that is a good fit with their personality, interests and abilities. Many students are confused when selecting a program and it’s great to help them select a career path and lessen their anxiety about their future career. The best part of my job is celebrating student success when students who have graduated come back to tell me that they have obtained higher degrees, have been admitted into graduate programs or just got a job in their career field."
